I'm personally not a fan of everyday cookies in cookie exchanges. I don't really like chocolate chip cookies on a regular day, let alone as a christmas cookie.
But I do not adhere to the "no bar cookie" rule. Why should I? I love bar cookies: brownies, lemon squares, toffee bars...they are some of the best cookies. My all time favorite is the Magic Cookie Bar. I'm not sure what makes them magic, but they are insanely delicious and easy to do, though the ingredients aren't cheap since the toppings are all bigger budget baking ingredients! Grab a pan and bring plan to bring some magic to your cookie exchange and see who dares to complain about these bar cookies!
