Pantry Must Haves
  • 1 packet white chocolate melts 
  • 1 large packet knotted pretzels (or you can use the 'log' variety
  • Assorted sprinkles

Melt chocolate very gently in microwave on a low setting.
Lay out a large sheet of baking paper or foil.
Pour sprinkles onto plates.
Dip pretzel in chocolate and shake on side of the plate a little (you want it to be slightly firm and not too runny before dipping in sprinkles).
Dip in sprinkles on both sides.
Lay flat on baking paper to set (should take about 5 mins).
When set, transfer to an airtight container.

Makes about 30 - 40 depending on size of pretzels.


 
 
We packed a whole lot of Valentine fun into one morning.  First we made the Valentine boxes and Valentin then moved on to "jewelry."
The girls strung their own beaded bracelets onto elastic thread. Fancy!
Then they rolled out sculpey (polymer clay...also made by Fimo and Premo!). Using tiny cookie cutters they each made two hearts and an O and a T!
A little "eye" screw (from the hardware store) was inserted 
in the top of each little piece.
The pendants were done after a short time in the oven...
...and as soon as they were cool enough to handle were put on a ribbon 
and went immediately around their necks.
All that crafting makes you work up an appetite.  And Miss T knows there's 
no shortage of peanut butter or cream cheese in Martha's house.
There was Regular AND Strawberry cream cheese!  And the girls did the "cooking."
On a Valentinesey day your sandwiches must be cut into hearts.  
They taste even better that way!
Lunch was followed with dessert and home made cookies are the only way to go...
Valentine boxed, bejeweled and bellies full...my favorite little ladies departed.  Hopefully feeling extra loved! XO

1. Cover shoe boxes with pretty wrapping paper or tissue paper.  
2. Cut a hole in the top, so you can slide in your love letters!  
3. Decorate with stickers and ribbons.
4. Fill with Valentine LOVE!

I invited my two favorite 3 year old Pantry Kids over to make their own Valentine Boxes!

Pantry must haves


Vanilla ice-cream
Candy eyes or raisins 
Peanut butter chocolate morsels
a can of whipped cream
A punnet of strawberries
Directions
Wash strawberries.
Cut tops off strawberries to create a flat surface.
Cut the strawberry in half.
Using a small ice-cream scooper, scoop some ice-cream onto the bottom half.
Quickly add whipped cream for a 'beard', then 'eyes'/raisins, and finally 'nose'.
Place the other half of the strawberry on top and add a little squirt of whipped cream to the tip of the 'hat' ...HOHOHO!!!

Admire for a moment and eat very quickly...

 
 

We have a busy week ahead and the last thing we need is sugar-high kids!

Start a new trend. Go healthy. I promise you, every child will be asking for gingerbread sandwiches!
Pantry must haves
A loaf of whole wheat bread
Butter
Cheese
Sprinkles
Gingerbread cutter
Milk
Carrot sticks


Directions 
  • Butter bread 
  • Slice and add cheese to one side
  • Place an extra slice of bread on top to make a sandwich
  • Cut off crusts
  • Press gingerbread cutter into bread...
  • & repeat....Change it up and add sprinkles, not just cheese...
  • Add a bowl of carrots and a jug of milk for the best afternoon snack

Pantry Must haves
8 tbsp. unsalted butter
2 cups packed dark brown sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
Pinch of salt
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
8-12 mini-drawf apples
lollipop sticks
Add a little heavy cream if your Caramel is too thick   



Directions:

Insert a lollipop or popsicle stick into the top of each apple so that it is firmly in place. 

Melt the butter over medium heat in a medium saucepan.  Mix in the dark brown sugar, corn syrup and salt.  Cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, until it comes to a boil.  Stir in the condensed milk.  Cook and stir until a candy thermometer reads 248° F (firm ball stage.)  Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla and cream (if it's too thick)- I find the cream thins the mixture and makes it easier to apply (similar to melting chocolate)

Dip the apples one at a time into the caramel mixture, turning slowly to coat evenly, let it drip, you don't want  the caramel  to be thick and work fast.  Transfer to a baking tray lined with wax paper (drip in nuts or sprinkles before setting) and allow the caramel to set at room temp. 

Your Caramel apple POPs can be  decorate with melted chocolate, chopped nuts, cookie crumbs or sprinkles

At our house we don't even eat turkey on Thanksgiving anymore! But we always have these cute little turkeys at every place.  They usually have our place cards leaning up against their little apple bodies.

In our family it is always the children's job to help set the table...this is every day, not just holidays!  But on special occasions their job is expanded to include the creation of place cards, or folding napkins in a fancy way or making these cute little turkeys!

All you need is as many apples as you have guests, a box of long tooth pics or skewers cut in half, a bag of large and small gum drops (for the tail feathers and feet) , a bag of large marshmallows (for the head), mini chocolate chips (for the eyes) and a little piece of licorice or a tube of piping icing to make the turkey's "snood" (yes that wobbly thing on their beaks has a name!)
